Priyanka Chopra is a very popular Indian movie actress and a former Miss World (2000). She was born July 18, 1982 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India to Ashok and Madhu Chopra, were both medical doctors. She spent part of her childhood in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh but frequently traveled with her family because her father was in the army. She studied at La Martiniere Girls Hostel in Lucknow and later went to the U.S., where she studied at Newton North High School, in Newton, Massachusetts and John F. Kennedy High School, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Chopra began college at Jai Hind College in Mumbai, India. She considered becoming a software engineer or a criminal psychologist, but dropped out after winning the Miss World pageant and instead became an actress in Bollywood (India's movie making center). Her first major role was in Tamil film Thamizhan (2002), and it was followed by a succession of other commercially successful films for which she won a number of awards for her acting. Chopra is tall at five feet, ten inches and elegant in appearance. She has a variety of interests, including Indian music and dance, the cinema, reading and writing poetry and short stories.
