iPod is a brand of portable digital media players developed and marketed by Apple Computer that have become one of the most popular consumer electronic products. Major features include elegant design, ease of use, small size and capacity for a large number of songs. The great success of the iPod has been a major factor in the rebounding of Apple Computer's fortunes, both because of the profitability from this device and because of the spillover effect that it has had on the company's personal computers. Launched in November, 2001, iPods have undergone continual evolution and are now in their fifth generation (from April 2006). Among the many improvements were smaller size, greater capacity and better display screens.
