A blog (short for web log) is a web page that usually consists of usually short, frequently updated entries about a particular topic that are arranged in reverse chronological order and are intended for general public consumption. The content and purposes of blogs vary greatly. They can consist of news about some topic, person or organization, project updates, links to other web sites, personal musings, photographs, fiction or poetry. A search capability may also be included. Blogs generally represent the personality of the author or reflect the purpose of the web site that hosts the blog. They can be written by an individual, who often remains anonymous, or by a group of people, including corporations and other organizations.
